Losses of Public Money for 2026-27 First Quarter

The report on losses of public money within Saskatchewan health organizations has been tabled with the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
The Ministry of Health reports losses by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), Athabasca Health Authority (AHA), Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA), Health Shared Services Saskatchewan (3sHealth), Health Quality Council (HQC) and Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations (SAHO) in keeping with similar reporting of losses within ministries and Crown agencies.
Two reportable losses were reported by SHA to the Ministry of Health in the first quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year (from April 1 to June 30, 2026).
- An employee hired his own business to perform work for the SHA and approved related invoices for payment, resulting in a loss of $65,100, which has been fully repaid. The employee was terminated, and the SHA is implementing enhanced conflict of interest controls and oversight measures to mitigate the risk of similar incidents in the future.
- A donation that was received by an employee was diverted for personal use, which resulted in a loss of $2,000, which has been fully repaid. The employee was terminated, and the SHA is reviewing and strengthening processes for managing donations.
